Judi Dench tips for Macmillan charity
The Market Place worked with Surrey's Priory Farm, Macmillan Cancer Support and much-loved actress
Dame Judi Dench to
help the family-owned farm celebrate its 60th anniversary.
Skyfall star Dame Judi joined the Priory Farm team as they commemorated
their landmark year by donating 300 kilos of coins to Macmillan Cancer
Support.
Dame Judi said, “Ever since I moved to Surrey, Priory Farm has been my local shop. I go to it for everything, even presents. There’s always a wonderful welcome – it’s good for the soul as well as the stomach.”
Set deep in beautiful Surrey countryside, Priory Farm has
been owned by the Shinner family since 1957. Today, our client's award-winning farm
shop is a destination for food lovers while their Discovery Walk is popular
with families and the fishing club with anglers.
A supporter of many local causes over the years, the farm
is currently fund-raising for Macmillan Cancer Support and used the occasion of
their anniversary to present the 300 kilos of coins.
The loose change was
donated by visitors to the farm’s Discovery Walk and together amounted to more
than £2,000.
“We’re thrilled
that Priory Farm has chosen to support Macmillan and it was really lovely to
have this generous donation presented to us by Dame Judi,” says Macmillan’s
fund-raising manager for Surrey, Emma Heley. “We’re still counting all the money but it looks like there will be
enough to make a huge difference.
“For example, the money could be used go towards the running costs of the East Surrey Macmillan Cancer Support Centre or on grants for local people who are struggling financially as they go through their cancer treatments, so a big thank you to all at Priory Farm.”
